Da Nang – a "dating" place with famous bridges across the banks of the Han River

Da Nang – a "dating" place with famous bridges across the banks of the Han River
The Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, one of the oldest bridges in the central district, was constructed in 1965 and is closely linked to the city's history. Since the inauguration of the Dragon Bridge and the Tran Thi Ly Bridge, it has been closed to vehicular traffic and now serves as a pedestrian bridge. The arch bridge has become a nostalgic gathering place for Da Nang locals to reminisce. It is also an appealing destination for young tourists to stop and admire the Han River in the tranquil, traffic-free atmosphere.
The Han River Bridge was designed and built by Vietnamese engineers and workers and is currently the only swing bridge in Vietnam. The bridge is a symbol of Da Nang and a source of pride for the local people who contributed to its construction. Previously, the bridge would swing open at 1 AM daily to allow large vessels to pass. However, for the convenience of tourists, the Han River Bridge is now scheduled to swing between 11 PM and 12 midnight every Saturday and Sunday.

Inaugurated at the same time as the Tran Thi Ly Bridge, the Dragon Bridge showcases the elegant beauty of modern architecture. It is also a popular gathering spot for both locals and tourists who come to watch the bridge "breathe" fire and water starting at 9 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. The light show illuminates a 300m radius, accompanied by a unique water and fire performance set to music. Additionally, the Dragon Bridge is impressive for the lighting design on the dragon's body, making it shine like a prominent jewel in the heart of Da Nang – a city known for its vibrant nightlife.
Cầu Thiên Sa (Thien Sa Bridge), spanning the Han River at the mouth of the sea, is the longest cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam (1,856m). From Thien Sa Bridge, the view towards the city center reveals the gentle Han River. Looking the other way, you see the immense sea, and in the distance, the Son Tra Peninsula, where clouds often shroud the ancient forest in the afternoon. At night, the bridge's towers are illuminated with vibrant colors, resembling magnificent palace gates. During the day, driving from Son Tra towards the city can feel like heading straight into the vast, overwhelmingly beautiful sea.
Additionally, there is a bridge that, while not crossing the Han River, is a unique architectural feature on the east bank that captivates tourists with its name alone: the Love Bridge. It is adorned with many red hearts and small padlocks, symbolizing the beautiful "destinies" of couples who have visited to admire the poetic Han River and the modern, youthful Da Nang with its tall buildings.
Stopping on any of these famous bridges, you will find the entire city framed by mountains, rivers, and the sea. You will then see how generously nature has blessed Da Nang, making it the most alluring tourist destination in the Central Coastal Region
